Why a new Catholic Center at Tulane?

The leadership of the Catholic Center at Tulane agrees with Archbishop Aymond, the current Catholic Center is “woefully inadequate” and we must build a new Catholic Center where we can live out our vision to be a living, active Catholic community for students, faculty, staff and individuals who choose the Catholic Center as their Faith Community.

The impact of the Catholic Center at Tulane can be seen and heard when talking to the students and others in the Faith Community. Because many Catholics fall away from the Catholic faith during college, the Catholic Center at Tulane reaches out and invites students to Mass and other ministries offered at the Center.

We are successfully reaching students at Tulane and building up a Faith Community that practices a Catholic sacramental life, listens to the Word and lives out social justice. All of this happens at Tulane in a building that is over 100 years old (and falling down around us) and it all happens in the context of faith, with a vibrant spiritual focus.

“The current Catholic Center is woefully inadequate for the needs of
a growing and dynamic ministry. We must come together, as the
church needs us in order to produce the very best future parishioners
and leaders from the thousands of Catholics attending Tulane. “
- Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond, D.D., Archbishop of New Orleans
